This 12v DuoGen has been removed from a customers yacht. It is complete and includes the charging regulator with dump load. It comes with a huge number of spares including spare blades.
This unit was originally a DuoGen 2 but was upgraded to DueGen 3 specification by the previous owner before completing the ARC, during which it flawlessly kept the batteries topped up throughout their trip.This unit crossed the Atlantic with the ARC in 2019 and kept the batteries full for 5000 miles in water mode, which can quickly be changed to wind mode when at anchor.
It is in very good use condition with the only major defect to note being a large rub mark on the side of the shaft where it was mounted close to a hydrovane, but this is 100% cosmetic and has absolutely no effect on the performance of the DuoGen. The DuoGen was removed when the boat was out of the water and was tested in wind mode before removal which confirmed that it was working.
The Duogen is a unique hybrid combined wind and water generation system for cruising yachts, water mode on passage, wind mode at anchor, proven in all sea states, with robust construction.
The benefit of this dual mode system is that the owner has greater potential for energy conversion than is possible with a single source system. This is because the air stream intercepted by a yacht’s sails when it is under way is many times the area intercepted by a typical wind turbine. In a given wind speed, therefore, the amount of battery charging power produced is usually far greater when a yacht is under sail and a water generator is deployed.
DuoGen brings the benefits of dual mode operation to the yacht owner in a truly practical form. The change from water to wind mode is accomplished in seconds without the use of tools and without having to de-mount or reposition major system elements or electrical connections.
