We see a lot of marine electronics come and go. The industry is currently moving away from isolated, single-function instruments and shifting towards highly integrated, wireless data hubs.
Digital Yacht has just released their new "Nucleus" Class B+ AIS Transponder, the AIT6000, in April 2026. It is designed to replace the highly successful AIT5000. Having had a good look at the technical specifications, I can confidently say this isn't just a minor tweak - it completely redefines the role of an AIS transponder on your boat.
Whether you are a seasoned offshore sailor or a technically minded DIYer looking to upgrade your NMEA network, here is a breakdown of why the AIT6000 is worth your attention.
The Basics: Class B+ Power and Zero Antenna Hassle
Before diving into the networking wizardry, let's look at the core AIS functionality. Like its predecessor, the AIT6000 uses the Class B+ SOTDMA architecture.
- Packs a Punch: It transmits at a solid 5 Watts of power, which is a massive 250% increase

Why Zipwake is Outperforming Traditional Trim Tabs
If you've spent any time at the helm, you know the "trim tab dance." You're constantly toggling switches to level the boat against a crosswind, adjusting for a passenger who just moved to the port side, or trying to keep the bow down in a choppy head sea.
For decades, traditional trim tabs were the only solution. But the game has changed. At [Store Name], we're seeing a massive shift toward Zipwake Dynamic Trim Control.
If you're wondering whether to stick with classic tabs or upgrade to an interceptor system, here is everything you need to know.
What is Zipwake? (The Interceptor Revolution)
While traditional trim tabs use large metal plates that pivot down into the water, Zipwake uses interceptors. These are slim, vertical blades mounted to the transom. Instead of deflecting a large volume of water downward (which creates significant drag), they extend just a few millimeters to create a high-pressure zone under the hull.
The result is

We were pleased to be asked to carry out a complete lithium upgrade and charger/inverter installation on board a sailing yacht, Wild Angel at Port Solent. The owner had conducted some research beforehand and had decided on Fogstar Lithium batteries, which we were happy to supply as one of our preferred lithium brands.
Keen to have as much capacity on tap as possible, we replaced the existing 580Ah AGM bank with 1200Ah of Fogstar lithium batteries. Note that AGMs shouldn't be discharged below 50%, so 580Ah of AGM/lead acid only really gives you 290Ah of usable capacity. However, lithium allows you to utilise all of its capacity, effectively quadrupling the amount of power available on board this sailing yacht.
There were a few practical challenges to overcome with the installation. Wild Angel is a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 50DS, fully kitted out with a generator, air conditioning, water maker, bow and stern thrusters. Whilst the accommodation is palatial as you would expect from a 50ft
