Dynaplate: Choosing the correct size
April 12, 2023
What is a Dynaplate?
Dynaplates are a great solution for hull bonding and grounding. A Dynaplate is a hull mounted ground plate made from sintered porous bronze, a form of bronze which allows water to fill it's internal voids, effectively creating a much larger surface area than it's physical size would lead you to believe.
Dynaplates have several uses and benefits, and are commonly used as a ground reference point for bonding, reducing RF interference in electrical equipment, and ensuring optimal performance for SSB radios.
- Improves performance of electronics and reduces RF interference
- A efficient path for hull bonding without long runs of copper foil
- Helps deter electrolysis and reduce galvanic corrosion
- Sintered porous bronze sphere construction greats a large surface area in a compact size
- Conforms to ABYC standards
Dynaplate Sizing
It's important to choose the correct Dynaplate for your application. Use the below table to help choose the right Dynaplate:
Model | Size | Purpose |
Standard Dynaplate | 6" x 2" x 1/2" | Hull bonding and grounding |
D-8 Dynaplate | 8" x 2-1/2" x 1/2" | Bonding, grounding and Loran |
Giant Dynaplate | 12" x 3" x 1/2" | Bonding, grounding and Loran |
Super Dynaplate | 18" x 6" x 1/2" | SSB radio |
